Enzymatic Calcium Carbonate Precipitation Research & Development

  • Montana Emergent Technologies, Inc. (MET) has initiated research and development focused on enzymatic calcium carbonate precipitation
  • This differs from biomineralization since it is an abiotic, catalyzed chemical process not utilizing living organisms such as bacteria, algae, fungi, etc.
  • MET has developed a proprietary process for extracting the urease enzyme from a natural material
  • MET has performed numerous laboratory tests evaluating reaction kinetics, deposit quality, and how to optimize the process
  • Urease is known to be functional up to at least 70C (158F)
  • MET believes that the ability to control mineralization at higher temperatures will significantly expand opportunities in the oil and gas industry
